We explore adoption issues and concerns through local and statewide group meetings. Our quarterly newsletter, THE BRIDGE is mailed to all members and includes adoption articles from a local and national perspective, features on waiting children, and much more.
COAC offers prospective adoptive parents the opportunity to actively participate in the selection of "their child(ren)". Through our SEEDLINGS project, COAC publishes a photo directory of hundreds of South Carolina children waiting for a permanent family to call their own. COAC also maintains photo listing books from other states. Our annual conference, brings together members of the adoption community as well as agency professionals with nationally recognized speakers for educational sessions. A lending library containing adoption-related books and audio tapes is available to COAC families. In addition, COAC offers valuable information from the National Adoption Information Clearinghouse for a nominal fee.
COAC offers adoption information workshops throughout the state to offer options for adoption. These are targeted to provide information to those families who are interested in infant adoption. In addition COAC offers on a limited basis adoption forum classes which highlight the waiting children and offer information to prospective families. Another new offering are Adoption Matching Fairs which offer prospective parents the opportunity to view photo listing books, meet case workers and see tapes of waiting children.
Through COAC's many activities and efforts, waiting children will find permanent homes this year!
