South Carolina Seedlings is a book which contains pictures and biographical information of hundreds of South Carolina children who are waiting for families. The book is used as a recruitment tool to bring specific waiting children to the attention of families who will value and love them forever.
Who are the Children featured in SEEDLINGS?
Children registered with SEEDLINGS were once considered hard to place because of a variety of special needs. Some children are members of a sibling group that want to stay together, some are minorities or are older than children most often considered by adoptive families; others are challenged by varying degrees of special education physical disabilities, or special physical, emotional or educational needs. The one common denominator is their need to be loved and cherished as someone's son or daughter.
What Costs are Involved in Parenting a Waiting Child?
The adoption agencies who place children featured in SEEDLINGS do not charge fees for the placement of waiting children. Some of the children registered have special medical or emotional needs that can be expensive. Financial assistance is often available for families adopting these children. Assistance can include reimbursement to help meet adoption process expenses, or monthly cash payments and medical assistance to help meet the needs of the adopted child.
